Good Tidings
What is Good Tidings?
Good Tidings is a weekly newsletter. It is our way to bring Christian Scientists and our community under our tent to know, see, feel and hear who we are and what we do every week. Good Tidings finds its foundation in Mark 16:15. “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” Mark 16:15
Weekly Banner: Servant Leadership.
Last week, as members of the same brotherhood, we decided to work under the same banner (Servant leadership.) Residents and workers came together and thoughts spilled ideas that emphasized finding their joys while helping others.
Sharing ideas from the Bible and Mrs. Eddy’s writings on leadership and implementing those ideas created an environment in which everyone felt loved and supported.
Today, we can all agree that with the statement “Striving to be good, to do good, and to love our neighbor as ourself, man’s soul is safe; man emerges from mortality and receives his rights inalienable — the love of God and man.” (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 200:11–17)
From Words to Actions
We worked with our residents on activities that benefited them individually while blessing others. To the question: “how can I lead by serving others?” Our residents came up with a list of goals we assisted, supported, and encouraged them to achieve. Here are some of the ideas they worked with:
- Practicing quietness and focus while reading the Bible Lesson and listening to the TMC testimony meeting in a group setting.
Picking up the dishes after each meal and dropping them in the sink.
Reading the Bible Lesson to others.
Wiping the tables.
Making up my bed.
Singing and telling funny stories to the group.
They had a blast working on the goals they set for themselves. Yes, it was difficult at first for each of them, but with patience, persistence, and being guided by God and assisted by our staff, they achieved some of the above objectives.
It gladens our hearts to see the priceless smiles on their faces whenever they achieve a goal set for themselves.

I like to work for GPCSN. It is a small but diverse organization. It expresses and treats everyone —residents and workers— as part of the same family. It is an organization that stands with you and for you. We can always count on each other’s assistance. There is no sense of superiority, preference, or discrimination. always have faith in one another and appreciate the love the residents have for us. Whether you are a non-Christian Scientist working in the office or kitchen or a Christian Scientist working as A Christian Science nurse, you know that your input is always welcome and appreciated. As an organization, we “rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances;” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-17.
We are deeply grateful for the 24/7 availability of the practitioners supporting our residents and the ideas they share with us each time we call on them for their support.
We are thankful to our staff members for their punctuality and high standards of care in meeting the needs of our homes.
We are immensely grateful to those who contribute to our ministry through financial donations and praying for our progress.
